Yom Kippur/The Day of Atonement from October 1, 2025 7:00 pm     .     October 2, 2025 7:00 pm Yom Kippur, or the Day of Atonement, is the holiest day of the year in Judaism, focusing on repentance and reconciliation. Occurring ten days after Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year), it is the culmination of the "Ten Days of Awe" it is a Day for a Man to Afflict His Soul. The term afflict your soul in scripture means a total fast. This is a day to set aside to deny yourself and spend in total rest.   Leviticus 16:29-32 - "This shall be a statute forever for you: In the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether a native of your own country or a stranger who dwells among you. For on that day the priest shall make atonement for you, to cleanse you, that you may be clean from all your sins before the LORD. It is a sabbath of solemn rest for you, and you shall afflict your souls.
