Water Baptism

Water baptism is a public declaration of faith and an outward demonstration of the inward transformation that occurs when a person decides to follow Jesus Christ. Established as a sacred ordinance commanded by Jesus in the Great Commission, it serves as a symbolic marker of a believer's union with Christ, entry into the church community, and a commitment to live according to God's leadership. 

The Symbolism of Baptism
The physical act of full immersion in water holds profound theological meaning, acting as a visual "biography" of a believer's spiritual journey: 
  • Death & Burial: Going down into the water represents the death and burial of the "old self" and past sinful habits. It visually identifies the believer with the death and burial of Jesus. 
  • Washing & Purification: The water symbolizes cleansing, echoing the historical practices of purification and the washing away of an old way of life.
  • Resurrection & New Life: Being lifted out of the water signifies resurrection. Just as Christ was raised from the dead, the believer is raised to walk in a completely new, transformed life guided by faith and hope.
